We recently had the absolute joy of photographing our friends, Caleb and Debbie Helsley, for their one-year wedding anniversary session — and let’s just say, they did it their way.
Caleb and Debbie brought along their two adorable dogs and met us at one of their favorite places: a nature preserve in Boyne City, Michigan, where they regularly mountain bike together. But this wasn’t just a laid-back shoot in the woods. Nope — they laced up, suited up, and biked through the preserve in their original wedding attire. Yes, you read that right.
A Northern Michigan Anniversary Session Like No Other.
There’s something incredibly special about photographing a couple in a place that actually means something to them. This wasn’t just a pretty location — this preserve is part of their everyday life. It’s where they ride, unwind, and connect. And seeing them back here, one year after their wedding, in the same dress and suit (with a few fun trail-ready modifications!) felt like the perfect full-circle moment.
Their bikes cut through golden light, and we got to document the pure joy of a couple who genuinely love doing life together.
